Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome is commonly seen in people who have weakened immune response as a result of infection(ie glandular fever) or a food/chemical allergy.

The main defining feature is chronic and persistent episodes of fatigue that may be accompanied by muscle weakness/aching, poor concentration, mild fever/sore throat, headaches, insomnia or hypersomnia(excessive sleeping), digestive complaints, night-sweating, irritability and depression.

Specific acupuncture points are used to strengthen the bodies vital energy, activate adrenalin, reduce inflammation, calm the mind and regulate the digestion. The use of herbs such as ginseng and astragalus help to strengthen the energy and immune system. Other particular herbs are used in accordance with particular presenting signs and symptoms which range between individuals. Treatment and recovery time varies between individuals.

QiGong meditation is also recommended in recovery as it relaxes the mind: good for those who tend to over-do things.
