Sciatica
Acupuncture provides safe and natural pain relief for sciatic problems.
Acupuncture works by invigorating blood flow & releasing muscle spasm. Patients often experience a “nervy” or “spasmy” feeling with needling of the tight areas in the gluteal muscles, thighs/legs. This is usually followed by relief in the pain and tightness, allowing greater mobility with less discomfort.
If the sciatica is due to disc compression in the lower back the muscles each side of the lower spine are also stimulated to relax so that the tightness around the discs releases.
Cupping is often used over the points to warm and promote the blood flow further. Bruising from the cupping is very common and a completely normal reaction, usually subsiding within a few days.
Acupuncture is ideal for patients who want to manage their pain as naturally as possible and not rely on pain or anti-inflammatory medication.
